چکیده
Abstract Accurately simulating the interactions between components of a coupled Earth modelling system (atmosphere, sea-ice, and wave) on kilometer-scale resolution is new challenge in operational numerical weather prediction. It difficult due to complexity interactive mechanisms, limited accuracy model scarcity observations available for assessing relevant processes. This study presents newly developed convective-scale atmosphere-wave forecasting European Arctic. The HARMONIE-AROME configuration ALADIN-HIRLAM prediction spectral wave WAVEWATCH III using OASIS3 coupling toolkit. We analyze impact representing through uncoupled forecasts domain with 2.5 km spatial resolution. In order assess model’s uncertainties we compare 48-hour against satellite observational products such as Advanced Scatterometer 10 m wind speed, altimeter based significant height. fully results closely match both satellite-based speed height well surface pressure measurements from selected coastal station observation sites. Furthermore, contains smaller standard deviation errors 10m parameters when compared forecasts. Atmosphere reduces short term forecast error variability greatest benefit occurring high conditions.

The European Coupled Atmosphere Wave Ocean Model ECAWOM
The European Coupled Atmosphere Wave Ocean model ECAWOM and its application to a North Sea storm are described. The model was integrated for the 1 month period of February 1993. Preliminary analysis of the results suggest that the model is capable of reproducing the basic features of the atmospheric, the wave, and the surge characteristics for this 1 month period. However, further analysis and ...
متن کاملGround-based millimeter and submillimeter-wave radiometry for the observation of the Arctic atmosphere
Microwave radiometers working at millimeter and submillimeter wavelengths show enhanced sensitivity to low contents of water vapor and cloud liquid in the atmosphere with respect to conventional radiometers working at centimeter wavelengths. This enhanced sensitivity gives particular interest to high-frequency radiometers for the accurate observations in extreme dry and cold conditions typical ...
متن کاملThe Case for a Kilometer - Scale High Energy Neutrino Detector ∗
Doing astronomy with photons of energies in excess of a GeV has turned out to be extremely challenging. Efforts are underway to develop instruments that may push astronomy to wavelengths smaller than 10 −14 cm by mapping the sky in high energy neutrinos instead. Neutrino astronomy, born with the identification of thermonuclear fusion in the sun and the particle processes controlling the fate of...
